POSING • LIGHTING • CONTROL
Learn to see, shape, and control light with confidence. From natural light to studio lighting, discover how to create dimension, flatter your subjects, and build a consistent look in any environment.
Great lighting isn't about memorizing setups or owning more equipment. It's about learning to see light, understand what it's doing, and know how to shape it intentionally.
Once you understand how direction, quality, intensity, and placement affect your subject, lighting stops feeling complicated. You can walk into almost any situation and know where to begin.
Learn how direction, quality, intensity, and distance change the way your subject looks. Discover how to recognize flattering light and make confident lighting decisions before you ever press the shutter.
Learn how to use modifiers, flags, and reflectors to sculpt light with intention. Control spill, feather your key light, and build repeatable setups that flatter your subjects in studio or on location.
Put it all together using natural light, studio light, and off-camera lighting. Learn how to adapt to different locations, subjects, and challenges so you can create consistent results wherever you're photographing.

I’ve spent decades working with every kind of lighting situation imaginable, and one thing I’ve learned is that great lighting isn’t about having the most expensive equipment. It’s about understanding the light you have and knowing what to do with it. This course is designed to help you build that confidence.
Not at all. I want you to understand light first and equipment second. We’ll work with natural light, studio light, modifiers, and different lighting situations so you can apply what you learn with the equipment you already have.
Both. Light behaves the same way whether you’re standing in a studio, someone’s home, or outside in a field. I’ll teach you how to recognize great light, work with what’s available, and create or modify light when you need to.
That’s okay. You don’t have to be a lighting expert to take this course. We’ll start with the foundations and build from there. If lighting has ever felt confusing or intimidating, this course was created to make it easier to understand.
We’ll explore natural light, studio lighting, off-camera lighting, modifiers, light placement, direction, quality, and more. More importantly, I’ll teach you how to look at a scene and decide what kind of light will create the result you want.
No. The principles you’ll learn aren’t tied to one camera or lighting brand. Once you understand how light works, you can apply those principles with the equipment that makes sense for you.
You’ll receive lifetime access to The Language of Light, so you can come back and revisit the lessons whenever you need a refresher.
